We have returned!

Fresh off the plane with the whole family, having arrived safe and sound.  According to one of the flight attendants, United's SFO to SIN route (flight UA 1) is the longest one the airline flies.  15 hours in one go.

We are currently breakfasting at our luxurious managed apartment where we're staying until some of our possessions arrive.  We almost had a "Hey look, that guy's got the same last name as we do.  Taxi!" moment but Elizabeth was thinking quickest after the travel ordeal so we didn't miss out on our complementary shuttle.  As it was, in our haze we forgot one of our 6 checked bags and someone will have to mount an expedition back to Changi Airport to grab the bulk of Maxwell's clothes.  All in all, fewer hiccups than I was expecting, honestly.

The important thing is that we have arrived, safe and in good spirits.  Here's the sunrise view from the balcony of our interim lodging.

  2. Stunning view. Glad you are safely there.

P.S. Flights from LAX to Australia are all about 15 hours. Been there - done that - but not with kids. You are brave. I'll be returning to AU in Nov.

  4. Congratulations on surviving a 15-hour plane ride with 3 kids! Enjoy the hotel - you all deserve a bit of luxury after the marathon sorting and packing to make the move. I hope everyone gets to sleep at the same time, with 5 people fighting jet lag.....

    1. I'm sure it will happen eventually, but I think Breakfast was the longest stretch of 5 awake people at the same time. I'm currently up with Amelia and Callie at 2 AM,and neither is showing any signs of sleeping soon.

  6. At least Maxwell is the one least likely to care about missing clothes. :)
